The South Island Line (East) is a major transport infrastructure project that will have a great impact on the Southern District. In order to enhance the public's understanding of the project, the Corporation has participated in and organised various activities to engage the public.
The Corporation sponsored the "South Island Line Cup" and took part in the race of the Tuen Ng Festival.
The South Island Line (East) will make travelling in the district more enjoyable and accessible, with greatly reduced journey times and a cleaner environment thanks to reduced road traffic.
The Corporation sponsored the Southern District Tourism & Cultural Festival to promote tourism in the Southern District.
In order to enhance the young generation's knowledge of the South Island Line (East), a series of talks in primary and secondary schools is planned to introduce the railway to the students.
The public and the local community will be engaged in a series of programmes to produce art pieces for South Island Line (East) stations, adding local cultural elements to the station design.
