Temporary barging facilities are proposed to allow removal of excavated materials by sea to minimize the environmental impact of the works by reducing the need for road transport of excavated materials. Appropriate mitigation measures such as using covered trucks, wheel-washing facilities and water spraying on affected roads will be applied.
Western District Public Cargo Working Area
The temporary barging point at Western District Public Cargo Working Area is envisaged to handle the excavated materials generated from the works site at Admiralty.
Lee Nam Road
Excavated materials generated from the tunnelling works at Lei Tung will be delivered to the barging point via conveyor belt in order to minimise construction traffic and associated environmental impact.
Telegraph Bay
Trucks travelling to the temporary barging point at Telegraph Bay will primarily take the route via Victoria Road and Sha Wan Drive, and will depart via Cyberport Road. Trucks will not pass by schools near Telegraph Bay.
Road junction improvement measures will be implemented as necessary.
A temporary magazine site is proposed at a remote location at Chung Hom Shan for overnight storage of explosives.
The design of the proposed temporary magazine will comply with the stringent requirements of the Mines Division of the Civil Engineering and Development Department.
The MTR Corporation will store explosives and detonators in separate rooms each with individual entrance/exit, to maintain high level of safety.
Inside and around the store, fire fighting and security installations will be provided.
Security guards will be deployed 24-hours.
